Magdalena Wojtowicz, PhD
Director
Dr. Wojtowicz is the Director of NORTH lab. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, Clinical Developmental/ Clinical Neuropsychology Stream, at York University. Dr. Wojtowicz is also a member of the York Lions Sports Injury Clinic. She collaborates with colleagues in the neurosciences and kinesiology programs at York along with a number of external researchers and organizations (see Collaborations sections below).

Alyssia WilsonPhD StudentAlyssia completed her undergraduate degree in biopsychology at the University of Winnipeg and her Masters in Clinical Developmental Psychology at York University. Alyssia is a Vanier Scholar and her PhD research focuses on the effects of mild traumatic injury and substance use on resting state functional connectivity.

Carmel CamilleriMA StudentCarmel completed his undergraduate in Psychology at York University. His research focuses on understanding cognitive expertise and multivariate base rate norms in athletes across various sports and in comparison to a typical population. Carmel has recently received an Ontario Graduate Scholarship that is being used to help fund his ongoing research.

Giulia FabianoMA Student
Giulia completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology at York University. She has experience working in clinical research at The Hospital for Sick Children and her research and clinical interest are focused on the neuropsychological outcomes following traumatic brain injury along with mental health and cognitive rehabilitation. Giulia’s master thesis is focused on awareness and supporting varsity athletes’ mental health.

Isabella SewellMA Student
Isabella completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Waterloo. Her research interests include the neuropsychological and psychiatric impact of traumatic brain injuries. Isabella’s master’s thesis explores the relationship between cognition, concussion, and musculoskeletal injuries among elite athletes.

Michelle BlumbergPhD Student
Michelle completed her undergraduate degree in Life Sciences and an MSc in Cognitive Neurosciences at Queen’s University. Her PhD research focuses on understanding the cognitive determinants of poor outcomes in homeless and precariously housed individuals. She is also interested in using intraindividual variability measures to characterize attentional abilities in a variety of healthy and clinical populations.

Samantha RobertsPhD Student
Samantha completed her honours undergraduate degree in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour at McMaster University and her master’s degree in Clinical Developmental Psychology at York University. She is currently completing her PhD at York University in Clinical Developmental Psychology (Neuropsychology stream). She is a pre-doctoral resident at Holland Bloorview 2023-2024. Samantha’s research focus is on neural correlates in association with neuropsychological outcomes in children with congenital heart disease and children born preterm. Further, she examines cognition and psychosocial outcomes in paediatric neurodevelopmental conditions, and mild and traumatic brain injury.

Shanny KeilikhisLab Manager
Shanny is a fourth year BSc - Psychology student at York University. She is involved in various projects. Her primary research focuses on the relationship between whole-body perceptual motor functioning and concussion prediction through the use of a non-immersive virtual reality system.
